Awake Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

Off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OPCAB) was implemented to reduce trauma during surgical coronary revascularization. High thoracic epidural anesthesia further reduced intraoperative stress and postoperative pain. This technique also supports awake coronary artery bypass (ACAB), completely avoiding the drawbacks of mechanical ventilation and general anesthesia in high-risk patients. We compared our first results of the ACAB procedure with the conventional operation on the beating heart.

Continuation of thoracic epidural analgesia provides better pain control and faster mobilization after such procedures. Surprisingly, the ACAB procedure was well accepted by the patients.

What is Atrial Fibrillation and Ablation Treatment?

Tachycardia and chest tightness is generally found when there is arrhythmia. There are both serious arrhythmia and temporary harmless ones. Our heart beats 100.000-150.000 times a day. When 500 or less of these beats are arrhythmia, it means there is no need for a treatment.

Remote Patient Monitoring Systems, TUBITAK Project of TOBB E...

Prof. Tayfun Aybek, MD -head of the Cardiovascular Surgery Department at TOBB ETU University – conducted the project of Remote Patient Monitoring Systems and the same University supported the Research and Development studies of this project. Remote Patient Monitoring Systems enable patients to follow their vital parameters (tension, EKG, saturation, hemoglobin, arterial blood gases etc.) after a Cardiac Surgery or Heart Attack. Patients may communicate their doctors instantly through the system.
